Class up your apartment with these great tips

Regardless of the type of apartment you reside in, whether it’s in a basement or on the top floor, there are various ways to transform your living space. Whether you’ve stayed in an apartment for a week or years, sometimes it’s nice to change things.

Your surroundings could affect your mood considerably, so you should opt for a calm and refined style. Here are some tips that could take your apartment from ordinary to classy.

Lighting

You’d be surprised at how much impact lighting could make to your space. The element is largely crucial to your home’s design and sets the overall tone and mood of your home. Ensure you invest in some quality lamps that can set up your room’s focal point.

An elegant lampshade could really transform your space. You should also consider chandeliers, which are quite popular and come in various price points.

Consider installing an elegant chandelier in your bedroom, over your dining room’s table, or even in your bathroom. It is also important you pay attention to windows if you are to hang drapes or curtains.

Fabric

The fabrics you select can set your space’s tone. Typically, rich fabrics feature textures that you can feel and see.

Deep, bold colors possibly combined with varying shades of white or pastels in linens and silks, will give your room a luxurious touch. Feel free to match and mix colors and textures to add dimension.

Mirrors

Whether you are looking to class up your place or a single room, ensure you use mirrors. Mirrors seem to expand space, so use them in corners that are otherwise overcrowded.

If you use one color to paint numerous smaller mirrors and group them, you’ll ultimately turn the cramped corner into an elegant, open wall.

Artwork and Accessories

You don’t have to own a Picasso for your walls to appear richer. You could hang photography, children’s artwork, or even posters. Select a few wood and elegant frames while mixing sizes. Ensure you bear the scale in mind.

While there’s nothing wrong with hanging a huge picture on a small wall, you should never hang a small picture on a huge wall.

Nevertheless, it’s okay to blend mediums. For instance, your posters, photography, and charcoal sketches can co-exist beautifully together on one wall.

Add Flowers and Plants

Adding flowers and plants will make your space feel classy and comfortable. Flowers can brighten your mood and room. Plants, particularly lilacs, will give your space a wonderful smell.

De-clutter

While this tip may sound obvious, you’ll be surprised at the number of people who don’t do this. You’ll observe that most luxurious spaces are clutter-free.

While everybody has a junk closet or drawer, luxurious homes are mostly spotless. Walk through your apartment and create three piles-for garbage, donation, and your own pile.

The last pile will comprise items that will remain in your home. This pile will typically comprise items that are of sentimental value or evoke wonderful memories. This pile could contain photographs, antiques, and family heirlooms.

If you must, hire additional help-just ensure your place remains clean and neat.

Experiment with Styles

It’s virtually impossible to attain the perfect style since everyone is unique. Therefore, what’s classy to one person may not be the same for someone else.

Consider matching and mixing styles. If you own a round and small item such as a table, you should complement it with something square and long. You should be able to create a unique style provided you match colors.
