If you’re seeking ways to enjoy your summer while enjoying the beautiful scenery, check out these suggestions.
Shakespeare Festival
Established in 1971, Shakespeare Dallas aims to develop North Texas cultural programs that are accessible and affordable to the community. For virtually two decades, the Fair Park Bandshell functioned as the home for the free outdoor fest.
This changed in 1989 when the festival shifted to a new venue-Samuell Grand Park. Several famous actors have graced the stage at this event including the likes of Morgan Freeman.
The event is set for June 24-28 and all summer performances are expected to start at 8:15pm. You can bring food and beverages to the event. You may bring blankets for seating purposes.
A-Kon
The oldest continually running convention is set to take place from June 5-7. For over 20 years, the North American convention has offered fans a range of interesting items from independent film to gaming, all with the aim of providing the most educational and engaging entertainment to the anime community.
Oak Cliff Film Festival
The 4th annual Oak Cliff Fest will take place from June 11-14. The event is expected to promote a sense of collaborative community in the film scene within Dallas. The event will occur in the center of Jefferson Blvd and the Bishop Arts District.
The event aims to highlight the best of filmmaking from Texas-based filmmakers and the rest of the world and country. Every year, the event adopts a theme that steers some of the programming of the four-day event.
Taste of Dallas
Taste of Dallas is one of the most sought-after culinary events that allow locals and visitors to sample delights from some of the most popular restaurants in Dallas. Plan to meet celebrity chefs, and sample from the top restaurants together with craft beers and wine tastings in a unique VIP tasting experience.
You can also shop for distinct specialty food products ranging from homemade sauces to jams and jellies. The event will run from June 12-14 and will feature more than 70 restaurants, cooking competitions, and a culinary marketplace. If you plan to take the kids along, ensure you visit the Kid’s Zone for children’s activities of various ages.
Dallas 7K/ 4K
Visitors and residents should join Dallas city along with its Park and Recreation Department in celebrating 4th July with the annual Dallas 7/4 run. The event features two distinct races including a 4K and a 7K.
Patriotic themes will decorate the routes, so bring the whole family to kick off the celebrations with a fun event. After the race, you’ll enjoy a festive celebration with refreshments and live music. As a registered participant, you’ll also obtain a commemorative t-shirt, so avail yourself at Fair Park Band Shell.
