About the Area
Greenville Avenue is one of the oldest and most popular parts of the city. There are two main sections of the neighbourhood; Upper Greenville and Lower Greenville. Lower Greenville is erratic in nature, with various nighclubs, bars and alternative shops; while Upper Greenville is more casual.
Knox/Henderson is often mistaken for a single district; however, it is two unique neighbourhoods. The area is named after two streets which cross the Central Expressway. The West side is Knox, which is filled with spas, salons, décor stores and fine dining; while the Eastern side is Henderson, which is crammed with specialist vintage stores, patio bars and clubs. Henderson has a vibrant nightlife and is the “place to be” on the weekends.
Location
Knox/Henderson and Greenville Avenue are served by DART rail and has stations that service the red, blue and orange lines, making commuting throughout the city quick and easy. Each district is also within walking distance of many of the local attractions and tourist hotspots such as the Arts District.
Places of Interest
One of the highlights of Greenville Avenue is the old Granada Theatre, which was built during the 1930’s and retains much of its original décor. The Granada Theatre hosts many of the city’s most prestigious live shows, including stage plays, touring bands and stand up comedy.
Situated between both Knox/Henderson and Greenville Avenue is Highland Park, aka “the Beverly Hills of Dallas.” This historic part of the city contains high-class shopping, beautiful landscape designs and prestigious artwork from some of the city’s most famous names. Surrounding the park is a vast array of restaurants, hotels and museums.
Knox/Henderson and Greenville Avenue are located in the East of Dallas TX; however, the close proximity to the central areas, excellent transport connections, artsy culture and bustling nightlife, make them some of the most sought after areas in the city.
