5 Houston Suburbs that Residents Love

Houston

Houston has everything you need, ranging from museums and excellent food to a world-class symphony. If you want these amenities without being in the city, you might want to look some miles away. This means you might want to consider the suburbs.

Whether you’re looking for a sleek high-rise apartment or a family-friendly space with a huge room, you’ll find it in Houston’s numerous suburbs or neighborhoods. Here’s a list of the top Houston suburbs.

1. The Woodlands

The relaxed community is situated northwest of the Houston area. The lush area is part of Montgomery County and is full of parks, trails, and forests. The forested and popular suburb is fundamentally one huge planned community comprising luxury houses and excellent amenities such as hiking, boat rides, and kayaking.

The affluent community appeals mostly to outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. Nonetheless, education is equally a priority since the city has some of the best schools.

Over the years, the up-and-coming community has blossomed heavily with major corporations such as Chevron establishing their headquarters in Woodlands.

With stunning residential developments and first-rate education choices, residing in the Woodlands has become more appealing to corporations and their personnel.

2. Katy

Over the years, the quaint area has grown to be one of the biggest and most popular around Houston.

Part of what makes it appealing is the proximity to major employers and the brief commute up Interstate 10 to what’s called the Energy Corridor, making it ideal for professionals who work in the city but desire a quieter life.

Besides the immense amount of master-planned communities, the community has a lot to offer. For instance, quality amenities such as Katy Contemporary Arts Museum have boosted Katy as a popular suburb. You’ll find huge contemporary houses here as well as a range of planned communities.

The area further features modern, pet-friendly apartment buildings featuring shared amenities such as a fitness room and a pool.

3. Clear Lake

Residing here is ideal particularly for those who enjoy residing near the coast or owning a seaside home. Bodies of water including Taylor Lake surround the Clear Lake area, which has one of the biggest concentrations of marinas and recreational boats nationwide.

The industries in this area are distinct to the remainder of this city, with the predominant ones being aerospace and tourism. Specifically, the area is home to the Kemah Boardwalk and the Johnson Space Center.

4. Montrose

The neighborhood is creative, artsy, and active. If you’re seeking where to go for vintage shopping, galleries, and quirky restaurants, it’s the place to be.

You’ll find some great-looking 1920s mansions and enjoy the convenient location next to the Museum District, which features more than 50 cultural institutions and museums.

Besides 1920s mansions, the suburb has eclectic townhomes and conventional single-family homes. The homes in this area have a broad range of prices and the apartment buildings tend to be more dated with few amenities. Therefore, you can expect to pay considerably less.

5. Houston Heights

If you’re fond of historic homes, you’ll find them in Houston Heights. The area is one of the oldest planned Houston communities that boast stunning bungalows and historic homes.

The neighborhood’s vintage vibe merged with the walkable streets and growing shops and businesses gives the suburb a classic feel. Furthermore, it’s a 10-minute drive to Downtown Houston.

Final Thoughts

With more than 2 million residents, Houston is the biggest city in Texas and 4th largest countrywide. The city’s museum districts, delicious cuisine, and renowned theater attract people from different parts of the world. If you’re looking to move into Houston’s suburbs, this list is a great starting point.
