Dallas

If you’re wondering how to keep your kids entertained, you can relax. Whether you have a toddler or a teen, Dallas is full of kid-centric activities that you might equally enjoy. The city has your entire family covered with fun activities, ranging from outdoor adventures to family-friendly attractions. If you’re wondering where to start, check out this list of activities.

1. Dreamscape Immersive

Your children will have an experience like never before at the Dreamscape Immersive. Situated on the 2nd level of NorthPark Center, the attraction is a cross between a theme park ride and a cinema. With the help of real-time capture technology and body-mapping, participants can interrelate as avatars within a virtual 3D environment.

It’s open to children aged 10 and above and guests can select from various family-friendly adventures, including Alien Zoo and The Blue. Tickets cost $20 and each adventure takes about 35 minutes from start to finish.

This is the only venue offering a virtual reality experience where the audience becomes part of the story. You can purchase tickets in-store or online although you should book in advance because each session permits only six people at a go. It’s worth noting that kids below 13 years should be in the company of a guardian or parent.

2. Dallas Zoo

Boasting more than 2000 animals from about 400 species, Dallas Zoo is the oldest and biggest zoological park statewide. You won’t find anything more than the normal walk-through animal exhibits. You’ll also notice that the construction of most enclosures replicates the natural environments of the animals.

You’ll find a children’s zoo with interactive exhibits, pony rides, a petting farm, etc. Daily presentations comprise giraffe feeding and animal encounters. Moreover, the zoo hosts a range of unique events during the year.

3. Dallas Children’s Theater

The venue offers a lineup of kid-friendly performances from puppetry to extravaganzas and classic productions. Dallas Children’s Theater is among the top nationwide and it hosts about 11 productions each season, all of which revolve around themes fostering social values.

Performances target ages 3 and above and occur on Sunday and Saturday afternoon as well as certain Friday evenings. Besides the ordinary schedule, the venue hosts sign language interpretation and sensory-friendly showings. If you’re looking for an up-close experience with wildlife, the zoo is an excellent place.

4. Dallas World Aquarium

Nestled in a colossal refurbished warehouse in West End District, the privately-owned attraction hosts numerous varieties of marine life from different parts of the world. Dallas World Aquarium features a 20,000-gallon walk-through exhibit, which features a 40ft long glass-in tunnel with sharks.

You could also check out a lush recreated South American rain forest or get up close with penguins, manatees, and more. Ensure you don’t miss the feeding and talk sessions that take place throughout the day.

5. Dallas Arboretum

There’s no more tranquil way of spending a sunny day than a stroll through the Dallas Arboretum. You’ll find it comprises botanical lushness and you’ll discover more about plant-life. It’s recommended you visit the venue throughout one of the biggest floral festivals countrywide where arts and crafts dominate.

6. Perot Museum

Perot Museum is a fun place to take your kids because it comprises exhibits that investigate all types of scientific fields. Exhibits include dinosaurs, energy and earth systems, etc. Even your youngest can still keep busy in the play area.

Final Thoughts

Trying to keep kids entertained can be challenging but all hope is not lost if you’re in Dallas. The city offers a range of activities for various age groups. This list is a great place to start if you’re new in the city.
