Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo
The Livestock Show & Rodeo has been a tradition since 1932. The three-week event provides and promotes education on agriculture while celebrating the Western heritage and supporting the Texas youth by offering scholarship money.
If you’ve always desired to see the thrill of a rodeo, you have a chance to watch real-life cowgirls and cowboys participating in bronc riding, bull riding, barrel racing, and steer wrestling. You’ll also find a horse and livestock show, a yearly barbecue contest, and live concerts.
The family-friendly event takes place between late February and early March. Next year, the event is set to take place from March 3-22 at NRG Park. It has since grown into the world’s biggest event of its type. With over 34,000 entries, the rodeo hosts exhibitors of varying ages from Texas along with numerous global competitors, trying for an opportunity to become a champion.
The Southwest International Boat Show
The Southwest Boat Show takes place on Houston’s Clear Lake every April. The biggest show in the Southwest region offers attendees the opportunity to view almost every make and size of boat, ranging from modest vessels to 100-foot yachts.
Besides viewing the vessels up close, you’ll have the opportunity to speak to industry professionals and get all your questions answered. On land, you’ll find more than 200 vendors selling related merchandise such as fishing gear and marine electronics.
The 4-day event features various boats, including bay boats, powerboats, ski boats, sailboats, and luxury yachts. You’ll also find educational and entertaining seminars that cover every aspect of the boating and sailing lifestyle, including the knowledge of being healthy and safe at sea.
For fishermen, they’ll view the latest in fishing gear, water toys, and navigational equipment. Attendees will also find a huge range of services and products next to vendors selling art, jewelry, and other products. Ensure you take some time to enjoy the seminars, exhibits, and live music.
Japan Festival
Houston’s Japanese festival is one of the biggest Japanese festivals in the U.S. Since its inception, the event has brought in more than 20,000 visitors annually. The event seeks to celebrate the culture and heritage of Japan through dance, live music, martial arts, and a conventional tea ceremony.
Its goal is to offer a quality event that promotes appreciation of Japan’s cultural heritage and contribute to Houston’s rich global profile and the diverse communities.
The event further seeks to promote the alliance between the U.S. and Japan. This year, the free event took place from April 13-14. The event is one of the most attended across the country. While there, vendors will charge for their merchandise and food items.
