Houston

With a flourishing cultural scene and high employment rates, Houston is an economic powerhouse. The Bayou City continues to draw many owing to its numerous properties and regions from which to choose.

Moreover, the rapidly growing and progressive city is a desirable and well-rounded place to reside. If you’re looking to rent in this city, here’s what to expect.

Restaurant Scene

In recent years, Houston’s restaurant scene has boomed, improving what was already a varied and rich offering. Whether you’re yearning for a genuine Mexican meal or a meal showcasing a menu comprising seasonal ingredients spanning the globe, Houston has something for everyone. Here are some of Houston’s best restaurants.

Uchi

The sophisticated and sleek restaurant features wood elements, which are prevalent in its interior design. Uchi offers a menu ranging from sushi rolls to Japanese gems such as yellowtail with Thai chili and ponzu. Another option to try is fried milk. If you’re a fan of Japanese food, this restaurant is the place to visit.

B&B Butchers

B&B Butchers offers the finest beef at the steakhouse located at Washington Avenue. It’s one among few licensed to serve authentic Japanese Kobe steaks. If you’re not a fan of beef, the menu offers other options such as a crab-stuffed trout and herb-crusted lamb rack.

The Pass & Provisions

The Pass& Provisions combines two concepts and seeks to satisfy any dining preference or budget. Locals and visitors can enjoy a budget-friendly and sophisticated menu at the Pass or you could go to Provisions, which offers pasta dishes and pizza with Italian sausage or uni for toppings.

Recreation and Sports

Houston loves all kinds of sports ranging from college to professional and interscholastic. Houstonians also take advantage of the year-round weather. When it comes to professional teams, Houston fans have numerous options.  For instance, in basketball, you can watch the Houston Rockets while soccer’s teams include the Houston Dynamo.

Universities and colleges in Houston’s area have various teams, including baseball, basketball, and football. Some of the city’s main collegiate teams include Rice University Owls and San Jacinto College Gators.

Entertainment Scene

Once you’re off work and ready to relax, Houston offers various entertainment options. Whether you’re old or young, the city’s entertainment scene has something for everyone.

Music

If you’re seeking some culture in your entertainment, you’ll find various premium offerings in the city. One of the most revered orchestras is the Houston Symphony, which holds most of its concerts in the Downtown section at Jones Hall.

The 87-piece orchestra attracts more than 300,000 concertgoers and top performers. The city is home to professional opera companies like Opera Vista whose performances take place in the River Oaks section and Opera in the Heights.

The Bayou City is also home to numerous concert halls and bigger venues that host live music from regional artists, local bands, and international groups. Some of the artists who started in the city include Lyle Lovett and Clint Black.

Professional Theater

With 14 professional companies situated throughout Houston, residents have an opportunity to enjoy this scene. Some of the theaters include The Alley Theater, which puts on over 500 shows annually. One of the few countrywide theaters supports full-time actors and produces classic, Broadway, and classic works.

Houston is a lively city that offers a wide range of activities for renters. From sports to entertainment, you have an opportunity to enjoy what the Bayou city offers. If you’re new to the city, this guide offers insight into what to expect.
