Apartment Search

If you’re looking to reside in the center of Dallas, especially around and in the city’s downtown area, perhaps you should consider apartment living. Although the suburbs in the DFW metropolitan area comprise spacious single-family homes, houses tend to be rare within the city.

Instead, high-rises, skyscrapers, and apartment complexes constitute Dallas’s skyline. Residing in the center of the city means you’ll never be far from the busy cosmopolitan lifestyle the city offers. If you decide to buy or rent an apartment in the Big D, consider these neighborhoods.

Uptown

This is possibly one of the most popular places for renting an apartment. Uptown is north of Downtown, making it easy to commute to work. It’s one of the most energetic neighborhoods with numerous dining options.

You’ll find it’s walkable and residents frequently spend their weekends browsing boutiques and visiting local cafes. You’ll have an opportunity to spend time on Katy Trail or admire Uptown’s historical architecture. In case you’re not in the mood for walking, you could catch a trolley ride.

Deep Ellum

The area is on the east side of downtown Dallas and bordered by Commerce, Canton, and Elm. Previously, the industrial district, Deep Ellum is currently home to numerous upscale restaurants, secondhand shops, and art galleries.

The area is also excellent for artists and festival lovers. The trendy neighborhood hosts numerous festivals and street fairs annually. You’ll discover it’s the ideal blend of affordable and hip.

Knox-Henderson

Situated between Lower Greenville Avenue, Uptown, and Highland Park town, lies the lively Knox-Henderson. The neighborhood is pedestrian-friendly with numerous shopping options, grocery stores, and excellent eateries. From farm to Tex-Mex, you’ll enjoy some of the finest dining in Dallas. In fact, tacos are a huge deal in the city.

The fact that it’s near the Katy Trail makes it an excellent neighborhood that allows easy access to biking, jogging, and other fitness related activities. The neighborhood comprises varied housing options, ranging from condominiums and lofts to townhomes.

Besides offering an excellent location near Downtown and Uptown, the culture and affordability draw numerous newcomers and professionals to Dallas.

Downtown

The area is the epitome of culture, entertainment, and history, drawing those seeking skyline views, green spaces, and lively entertainment and bustling scene. It’s home to the biggest urban arts district countrywide with 20 square blocks of art venues and museums.

Additionally, it’s the central hub for the neighborhood’s public transportation, making it possible to achieve a vehicle-free lifestyle for those who work and reside in the area. However, the rental costs are higher in comparison to the city average.

Lower Greenville Avenue

Situated to the northeast side of Knox-Henderson, the neighborhood blends those in their 20s and early 30s. Greenville has two areas-Lower and Upper. The former is associated with numerous nightlife options, making it ideal for young professionals.

Whether you’re seeking an impressive range of cuisines and venues for live music, you’ll love the neighborhood. If having a yard is a priority for you, the neighborhood is ideal since numerous stand-alone apartments and single-family homes are accessible for rent.

While Dallas offers a range of living options, you might not know where to start especially if you’re a first-time mover. This guide, however, offers a list of the best neighborhoods in the city.
