Food & Entertainment

A few years ago, locally grown and organic dining was rare. However, the trend is increasingly becoming more prevalent in Houston, which is home to more than 11, 000 restaurants.

If you’re concerned about your health, the city is home to numerous restaurants that adopt healthy culinary procedures to prepare dishes. Whether you’re a visitor or local looking for organic restaurants, this list will guide you.

Local Foods

You’ll discover that Local Foods prides itself in offering gourmet selections of delicious and hearty sandwiches, sides, and salads, all made with local ingredients.

Consider ordering the Crunchy Chicken, which is a favorite among regulars. You can pair it with watermelon gazpacho or some seasonal fruit and wash it down with their delectable mintade for a satisfying meal.

You can visit their locations in Rice Village or Upper Kirby both of which are open throughout the week for lunch and dinner. While there, make sure you try the home-made snacks and fresh soups as well.

Ruggles Green

Ruggles Green became the first Certified Geen Restaurant when it opened in 2008. Since then, it has expanded to more locations, which offer a menu loaded with organic and local ingredients.

You’ll also discover the casual restaurant offers an extensive menu that comprises all-natural pizzas, salads, pasta, and beverages such as organic teas. In addition to being committed to healthy food and environment, the restaurant is conscientious of its customers’ allergy needs.

The restaurant’s online menu also makes it easy to locate dairy-free and gluten-free options as well as healthy kid’s meals and vegetarian dishes. Moreover, the restaurant offers original menu items such as the Veggie-Nut Hemp Burger.

You can also try the crab cake fritters or the fish tacos. Fortunately, you can visit any of its various locations, including The Woodlands and Heights in Houston.

Tossed

Tossed has a design-your-own salad concept, allowing you to choose from a range of salad greens, cheeses, vegetables, and more than 20 kinds of dressings. The casual restaurant also offers specialty salad options, crepe wraps, and yogurt smoothies.

The restaurant is committed to serving the freshest, quality food in a warm and casual setting while delivering friendly service.

Tossed, which is at the intersection of North Eldridge Parkway and Briar Forest Drive, operates from Monday-Saturday from 10am -9 pm while on Sunday; the operating hours are from 12pm-6pm.

A Moveable Feast

A Moveable Feast is a casual restaurant that prepares its dishes from scratch without the use of trans fats or propylene glycol. As of 2010, its dinner and lunch menus include vegetarian entrees, salads, and sandwiches.

Additionally, it prepares fresh juices, smoothies, and a wide range of desserts, for instance gingersnaps and chocolate cheesecake (sugar-free). You’ll also find it offers food supplements and pre-packaged gluten-free foods.

In their efforts to promote healthy eating, the restaurant prepares its food using the best accessible ingredients and doesn’t fry dishes. Furthermore, they purify the water used for drinking and cooking.

Baba Yega Café

Situated in the heart of Montrose, the Café is a favorite for those seeking fresh, quality food. Besides their impressive menu, Baba Yega offers vegan and vegetarian menus along with a broad list of gluten-free options.

You’ll discover it has a fun and interesting atmosphere and its Sunday brunches draw a huge crowd, so come early.

If you’re thinking of changing your dietary lifestyle and are seeking healthy options, Houston caters to different tastes and preferences. If you’re seeking restaurants that offer organic food but don’t know where to start, this list will guide you.
