Spread across 66-acres in Dallas, the Arboretum and Botanical garden offers tourists and residents breathtaking views year-round. Opened in 1984, the garden’s eye-catching vistas and lush plantings have earned it various accolades.

Programs at the Arboretum

The Arboretum offers the public various programs for adults and children. These programs have enlightened residents for over 15 years. With numerous class types and topics, you’re certain to find the ideal activity that suits your interests. Some of the offered programs include:

  • Adult Programs

The year-round classes offer topics including landscape design, photography, and floral design. The class styles comprise demonstration, hands-on, and demonstration.

If you enjoy gardening, the programs will help broaden your gardening knowledge while giving you the information to produce an incredible landscape. On the other hand, if you enjoy creativity, classes provide the chance to gain hands-on experience through various inspired classes.

  • Summer Camps

The arboretum offers various summer camps for children aged 3 to 8th graders.  You’ll discover the camps cater to your child’s needs and interests for an unforgettable adventure.

The camps offer a stimulating experience that inspires children to learn about nature and science while having fun.

Kids can explore acres of fauna and flora throughout summer while enjoying activities such as nature walks and storytelling. For kids who enjoy a challenge, they can compete in races using a compass and map.

Seasonal Festivals

The Dallas Arboretum provides endless opportunities for excitement, family fun, and entertainment. The garden offers rotating festivals four times annually. The festivals allow visitors to enjoy stunning floral beauty and various activities. Public events include:

  • Dallas Blooms

The festival features tulips, pansies, and other springtime perennials and annuals that blossom during the festival. For over 30 years, the Blooms festival has featured one of the most stunning floral displays worldwide. Plan to attend next year’s festival, which will run from February 26-April 10.

  • Summer at the Arboretum

The event, which currently runs until July 31, typically displays an incredible range of seasonal plantings. During this period, the beds will burst with plantings such as ageratum, petunias, and marigolds.

Some of the activities to expect include Family Fun Fridays scheduled for July 31 at the Pecan Grove. The kid-friendly activities will comprise face painting and music.

Named Gardens

With more than 66 acres of manicured grounds, the arboretum features 19 named gardens, which merge with various areas within to develop a premier Dallas landmark. The gardens include:

  • A Woman’s Garden

The nationally acclaimed and serene garden features breathtaking views and terraced walkways. The garden comprises numerous smaller garden rooms and the Poetry Garden, which comprises a sunken rose garden.

Designed in 1997, the beautiful woman’s garden seeks to express and celebrate the courage, strength, and creativity of women.

  • Nancy’s Garden

Situated within DeGolyer Gardens, the space was initially Mrs. Golyer’s private garden. In 1986, Nancy’s garden underwent renovation and currently comprises child-sized benches.

  • DeGolyer Gardens

In 1940, landscape architects Marie and Arthur Berger designed the gardens. The garden still maintains several of its original features including the Sunken Garden and Magnolia Allee though some of the features underwent renovation and reopened in 2006.
