Messy Car
A messy car is a sign of a messy person.

Your roommate can significantly impact your overall living experience. Luckily, Dallas TX is expanding at a rapid rate, which gives you a lot more options than other cities.

Whether you’re searching for a new apartment or trying to find somebody to move into a spare room, don’t just accept any offer that comes your way. Make the wrong decision and you could find yourself in a very unpleasant situation.

When you start meeting potential roommates there are plenty of tell-tale signs that can help you figure out whether you’ll be a good fit.

Clean

Action: Arrange a meeting with your potential roommate in a location that will require them to drive; and then check to see if their car is messy or tidy. This will tell you a lot about their behaviour and if they’re the type of person who just throws around rubbish without a care in the world.

Confident

Action: Without confidence you may struggle to develop a personal relationship with your roommate. Simple things such as whether they’ve text you as opposed to phoned you can tell you a lot about their self-confidence.

Hygienic

Action: When you meet your potential roommate assess how well they dress and if they take care of themselves on the outside. This may seem shallow, but somebody who is well groomed and smart will usually have good hygiene.

Spontaneous

Action: Having a spontaneous roommate who will be willing to accompany you on a night out at short notice can really build your relationship. To find out how spontaneous they are, give them a call and arrange a meeting at very short notice.

Humorous

Action: There’s nothing worse than being lumbered with a roommate that has absolutely no sense of humour. When you talk to them on the phone make a few light hearted jokes and gauge their reactions to see if your personalities gel.

Friendly

Action: Simply talking to your potential roommate on the phone can tell you whether or not they’re a friendly person. Are they short with you? Do they have a friendly tone of voice? These are all things you should think about.

Quiet

Action: When your potential roommate drives to meet you, listen out for loud music in their car. If they’re blasting out metal when they drive down the street no doubt they’ll be the same at home. In addition, find out what type of music and TV shows they’re into. This may not seem important, but loving late-night television, it’s a sure-fire sign of someone nocturnal.

By using these tips when you start searching for a roommate, you’ll boost your chances of finding somebody you really connect with. A good roommate could turn into a friend for life and with just a bit of preparation you could really enhance your living experience.
