Dallas is the eastern, bigger half of the DFW Metroplex and most people think of the city when they think of Texas-busy, cosmopolitan, big and growing. You’ll find numerous gleaming skyscrapers while a range of suburban commercial centers and neighborhoods spread out in all directions around the city center.

You can expect long commutes owing to the huge population, urban sprawl, and growth rate. If you’re looking to move to the city, you’ll find it offers numerous gems for exploration within the city and suburbs. Here’s a list of the coolest places to reside in Dallas.

Uptown

Located north of downtown Dallas, the neighborhood is an excellent place for anybody seeking an urban environment. Since the late 1800s, this area has been home to young professionals and businessmen. Numerous mid-rise apartments, townhouses, and some high-rise apartments and condominiums emerged following a remodel that started in the 90s.

The neighborhood’s apartments and houses are a few minutes away from boutiques, restaurants, and offices. With its rich social life and history, Uptown is one of the most sought after Dallas neighborhoods.

The neighborhood is one of the most walkable with cafes and boutiques a few minutes from most residential areas. McKinney Avenue is the neighborhood’s lifeline and is lined with residential buildings, restaurants, and offices.

Preston Hollow

This is one of the most elite Dallas’s neighborhoods. Situated in northern Dallas, the neighborhood stretches from Northwest Highway to Royal Lane on the north and Hillcrest Road from the east, providing easy access from the Dallas North Tollway and LBJ/I-635.

You’ll find huge estates with live oak trees inspiring. You’ll discover that several of the streets lack curbs or sidewalks. Here, properties with 6,000 sqft or more are common. The entry price in Preston Hollow is steep at $2 million.

Preston Road is a major landmark with numerous shopping options. The neighborhood is also home to the most elite private schools-several with tuitions that increase to $20,000 annually.

Lake Highlands

Situated east of Highway 75 and Northwest Highway, the neighborhood is popular for young couples and families. The location permits its residents to sustain a Dallas address while maintaining access to the excellent schools in the Richardson suburb.

Moreover, Lake Highlands offers convenient access to downtown Dallas along with shopping and employment centers in Richardson and Plano. The neighborhood is known for its huge pecan and live oak trees as well as huge, rolling hills.

Most of the homes in this neighborhood are single story ranches but options exist for families seeking something bigger. The neighborhood is excellent for families or young couples looking to settle in the Dallas area, but still maintain access to the jobs and schools of the suburbs.

Deep Ellum

Musical millennials will be glad to call the vibrant, edgy neighborhood their home. Deep Ellum is associated with a range of live music and entertainment venues, bright building murals, and numerous places to drink eat, and celebrate.

The neighborhood was significant for manufacturing and business but established itself as the center of live music. You’ll also find numerous galleries and recording studios.

Final Thoughts

Dallas is not only a fun city but also offers a lot to see and do. However, selecting the appropriate neighborhood can be challenging, particularly if you’re new. Fortunately, this guide lists some of the coolest places to consider.
