At night if you listen closely you can almost hear the faded sounds of Legendary Blues artists Blind Lemon Jefferson, "Leadbelly" and "Lightnin'" Hopkins whose tunes sauntered at the height of the Prohibition from the former dives and speakeasies of historic Deep Ellum.
Though one song has faded, another rises in full crescendo in a neighborhood harmoniously connected by a diverse group of people. A quick visit to Deep Ellum shows the artistic beat that hums through the corridors of this downtown Dallas neighborhood. Artist renderings and beautiful mosaic designs decorate repurposed buildings and storefronts inspiring both guests and residents.
It is here in Deep Ellum that artists have an almost playground of opportunities devoted to developing their talent. Life in Deep Ellum, more of a cultural center than church, and Mokah Coffee House are popular hangouts for musicians, artists and folks of renaissance talents and capabilities.
Residents have a variety of Deep Ellum rentals to choose from. There are several historic industrial buildings that were renovated into lofts such as the Adam Hats Lofts which was originally built by Henry Ford as one of their regional model T factories. You will also find newly built mid-rise apartments that retain the look and feel of loft style living but feature luxury amenities such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and polished concrete floors. Deep Ellum also offers traditional garden style apartments as well as townhomes, many are located just steps away from the new Deep Ellum DART light rail station.
One of the most popular apartment communities in Deep Ellum is Broadstone Ambrose apartments because of its premium amenities and central location. 910 Texas street apartments have a great resort style pool and weekend pool scene. If access to the DART rail is important you can't go wrong with the Marquis on Gaston apartments. Not only are they located directly across from the Deep Ellum station, they are one of the better priced A rated apartments in the area. Just minutes outside of Deep Ellum are the Vue Live Oak apartments which have townhomes with attached garages and private yards for dog lovers.
Don't forget about Power Properties, they have multiple communities located off Gaston Ave and surrounding streets around Swiss avenue. They are famous for converting older properties into beautiful communities with custom home interior features such as granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood flooring, and modern pendent lighting. Power Properties communities range from small boutique 4-plex and 8-plex communities to traditional garden style communities. One thing they all have in common is that they all revolve around creating a great community atmosphere where residents can congregate in the courtyard around a black bottom pools, outdoor kitchens, and outdoor living areas. They even have music playing from the trees.
Living in Deep Ellum puts you in the mainstream of Dallas and within walking distance of Fair Park, host to the State Fair of Texas and many spectacular museums as well as The Music Hall at Fair Park home of Dallas Summer Musicals, The Dallas Opera and the Texas Ballet Theatre.
Whether it an artistic showcase or the Annual Deep Ellum Pet Parade that gets you here you certainly will find enough entertainment to make you stay.
