The city of Allen has changed a lot since the Bass brothers successfully pulled off Texas’ first train robbery here in 1878. Formerly little more than a brief stage coach stop, Allen is now one of the most tech-savvy cities in the DFW Metroplex keeping its residents informed and up-to-date high tech style!
Allen citizens are kept informed with Allen TV E-news, YouTube videos and short infomercials like “My City, My Pride” featuring personal interviews with local members of the police and fire department, “In the Dog House” showcasing the city’s most adoptable pets and “The Dilly-O” with Marci Moon – an effervescent gal who tells Allen residents “what’s going down in and around town”.
Some of the local happenings include the annual Allen USA Celebration featuring popular musical acts, local celebrities, a celebration water park and a pyro-synchronized musical fireworks show.
Allen has some of the most elaborate park, recreation and aquatic centers in the area and even features a special senior recreation center for those 50 and older. Other popular spots for residents of Allen Apartments are Allen Station Park- a popular walking park full of wildflowers and The Edge – the largest outdoor BMX/skate park facility in the state and the Don Rodenbaugh Natatorium, a 7,000 sq. ft. year-around indoor/outdoor swimming and fitness facility and the Joe Farmer Recreation Center. That all pales in comparison to the $60 million high school stadium they built in 2012.
CNN’s Money Magazine ranked Allen 13 out of 100 best places to live in 2012. The many garden-style, townhomes, lofts and mid-rises that comprise Allen rentals affordably offer luxurious features and amenities at a cost palatable to most tastes, styles and budgets. Popular luxury communities like Auberry at Twin Creeks and The Gates of Allen Station offer renters custom home features at a reasonable price. The popular Lofts at Watters Creek offers resident’s premium features like stainless steel appliances, granite countertops, and wood flooring, but at a little higher price. Allen residents love Watters Creek and The Village at Fairview because you can walk outside your door to some of the best restaurants and shopping that Allen has to offer.
